The whole thing in one page

Rules

There are 315 time zones. Anyone can take any of them, at any time, by paying more than the person holding it. That is the entire game.

Read this part

Payments are final. You are not refunded when somebody takes your zone. You are paying to hold a zone for as long as you hold it — which might be a year, or might be ten minutes. Nobody can tell you in advance which.

Claiming a zone

  1. Unclaimed zones open at $5. Any of the 315 zones nobody has taken yet costs the same to claim.
  2. Taking an owned zone costs more than the current stake. The price is the current stake plus at least 10% (minimum $1), rounded up to the next whole dollar. The site always shows you the exact figure before you pay.
  3. The price is decided by the server, never the browser. It is read again inside the payment transaction, so the amount you are charged is the amount that was genuinely required at that moment.
  4. Ownership moves only after Stripe confirms the payment. Reaching the confirmation page proves nothing on its own.

Credit on a zone

Everything you have ever paid on a particular zone is added up and counts toward taking it again. Identity is your email address, lowercased — there are no accounts, so use the same address each time or your credit will be split across two of them.

Say you claim New York at $5 and somebody takes it for $6. Taking it back needs a $7 total, and you already have $5 on it, so you pay the difference rather than the full $7. Credit is per zone — it does not move to a different one.

Small differences are rounded up to a minimum charge of $3, because card fees make anything less mostly fee. Paying the minimum simply leaves you with a slightly larger stake.

What is not refundable

To be completely unambiguous, none of the following entitles you to a refund:

If you were charged twice for the same claim, or charged and never given the zone, that is a mistake rather than a rule — see the FAQ and email us.

What you may not list

Keep it to a real company, product, project or personal site. We will remove a listing, without refund, for anything that is:

Names and taglines are plain text. No HTML, no links, no markup.

Two people paying at once

Zones are claimed in the order payments confirm, not the order checkouts start. If two people pay for the same zone within seconds of each other, the second payment is recorded as outbid and does not take the zone. That specific case is a genuine refund — email us and we will return it.

These rules can change; the version on this page is the one that applies. Questions the rules don't answer are probably in the FAQ, and the formal version is in the Terms.
